I'm very excited to be in the process of starting my own wellness consultancy. My services will feature yoga intruction and coaching, ayurveda consultations and workshops, reiki, and home wellness consultations. I'm eager to meet folks who are interested in or partaking in energy work. Healing the mental, emotional and physical body through healthy lifestyle choices is where it's at. If yoga and ayurveda are the techniques used to achieve a healthier life, I'm even more interested in hearing from you.

Be well!

Ayurveda, yoga and energy work in Ottawa

I've been on a wild and crazy spiritual path for the past couple of years and it's brought me here to Live Journal! A little detour perhaps. Actually I'm just in the process of getting myself all net-savvy; starting a webpage shortly to introduce some of the work I'm doing - yoga, ayurveda, reiki and home stuff. That's the bizz end of things.

I'm a yogi. I've been doing yoga for about 10 years, the last two being very focused. I had the great privilege of doing the Teacher Training Program at Upward Dog Yoga Centre here in Ottawa with yogi Vishveketu - a wonderful young yogi from India. The experience transformed my life, helping me to connect with my true Self and really appreciating what life is about. Yoga training brought me in contact with another teacher who taught me to deepen my mediation and introduced me to reiki...both of which have helped me to connect with the Divine. Very cool!

In the past I've done a fair amount of community-based work; different HIV/AIDS groups, housing co-ops, union activist, etc. While all of those experiences were deeply rewarding in a number of ways, nothing has been as powerful as taking my journey inside.

This year I've had even more opportunities come my way and was fortunate to be trained as an Ayurveda Practitioner. For those who don't know Ayurveda is the first medical system developed in Vedic times. Passed down through the millenia, Ayurveda had to go underground for much of India's more recent history, but is now becoming recognized and understood around the world. Learning one's own constitution and making necessary changes to one's diet and lifestyle will assist in balancing the body, mind and spirit. This model for wellbeing truly gives individuals the ability to manage their own level of wellness.

I'm interested in meeting others who are keen on energy work - taking responsibility for their own physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing by whatever means works for them. In my view it's time that we step away of the "healthcare" systems of the West (except of course for matters of acute care which allopathy is very proficient at) and embrace those practices that are based in nature, the heart and spirit to find wellbeing.

Be well everyone...truly be well!
